Entrepreneurs learn the role of public relations in growing their businesses

July 18, 2008, Chicago, Ill. – Entrepreneurs who want to get more exposure for their businesses to attract leads, investment and partnerships, are gathering for a highly interactive PR planning workshop at the offices of Transwestern’s midwest headquarters. Their intent is to learn methods for building a successful PR program.

Sponsored by Transwestern and Finesse Cuisine, and led by the principal of The Ballast Group, an integrated communications strategies firm based in Chicago, the half-day session focused on a PR planning system. The methodology included learning to lay a foundation for PR; develop core messages; identify influencers; prepare a news pipeline; and begin outreach to execute the plan.

Companies in the professional services, hospitality, financial services, publishing, consumer products and commercial real estate industries plan to attend so they can better position themselves in the marketplace as thought leaders and as sources for the news media. An emphasis will be made on building these relationships and noting the importance of garnering third party credibility by being included in news stories.

Moderated by Kevin Gross, President of KMG Enterprises, a nationally recognized expert on entrepreneurial development, and lead by Kellee Johnson, Principal of The Ballast Group, this seminar is the second in a series of workshops planned in 2008 for regional entrepreneurs.
